Welcome to the newest edition of our ‘getting to know the team’ series. Here, we’re introducing Michael, the newest member of our PPC team. We’re not picking favourites but we doubt you’ll see another of our blogs with such an interesting background section!

As you know, our team of specialists is the most important aspect of Browndog so we’re taking a moment to help you get to know them all. We’re excited to have introduced three new starters recently and we can’t wait to share more about them. So, first…

Who are you and what’s your role?

Hello, I’m Michael. I’m one of the Google PPC experts at Browndog. I have recently joined the business to look after Google and Microsoft accounts with a large mix of our clients.

Tell us some background…

I’ve had a very varied working background. Growing up, I always enjoyed art, so at college I studied Art and Design, and Fine Art and Sculpture. From there, I moved into Dance and Theatre, studying Jazz and Contemporary Dance. Bonus insight: I also worked in a nightclub as a podium dancer, hot pants and fake tan aplenty!

I’ve had many jobs over the years, from selling phones to working for the NHS. I got into PPC from a role I had selling Google products, where I moved from Sales into managing Google Ad Spend for clients.

I take great enjoyment in helping companies to grow and getting to play a part in their success. For that reason, I’ve found working in PPC management far more rewarding than being in Sales, and it’s much less stressful too!

Most recently I worked for another agency where I stayed for over ten years, predominantly working in PPC management. During that time, I worked with a variety of businesses from many industries, with varying budgets, and I also helped other team members to grow in their roles.

Now, I’m ready for a fresh start with a fresh company and new ideas – I’m looking forward to being able to give a more personalised approach to the clients that I work with.

What kind of projects do you enjoy working on?

I’m very used to working with a range of clients. I like working on accounts that are varied, with a mix of search, display, PMax and video. I believe that marketing shouldn’t just come from one channel – variety is the spice of life! And in today’s market, people are searching and looking in a variety of different ways, so we need to make sure our clients are always placed in front of the right type of customer.

What projects have you worked on this year?

I’ve worked with numerous clients this year, ranging from mobile bar hire, gold bullion selling, to second-hand caravan buying. Each one comes with their own challenges, and this is the reason I like lead generation, because each service is so varied and never the same. It take a lot of skill to make sure that each account is bespoke to the client and brings in the high quality leads that they need.

Where in the world would you like to visit?

I love wildlife and nature, so I’d like to eventually go on a safari in Africa; maybe South Africa or Botswana as the Okavango Delta looks amazing. I’d also love to go to Patagonia in Argentina. Equally, I love to relax on the beach, so Australia would be nice. The main issue I have is that they are all so far away and I hate long-haul flights!

What unpopular opinion do you have?

Everyone in the office seems to love dogs but anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that cats are far superior!

What are you loving at the moment?

I’m trying to really love the gym. I think it’s very much a love-hate relationship and I always end up going on a break, but this time I’m going to stick at it. Some relationships just need work, and I’m not ready for a divorce just yet!

How do you spend your free time?

Trying to be a big gym head! I love walking in the Peak District and enjoy the cinema. I’m also a bit of a nerd and love playing online games with my friends – World of Warcraft is my jam!

What’s a life goal of yours?

To live long and prosper!

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

At the moment both – which means I’m getting nowhere near enough sleep…

Over the coming weeks we’ll be introducing you to more new members of our team, Hussain Zeeb and Lauren Dew. In the meantime, you can read about more studio updates in our blog.
