The golden touch…
Freshlay Golden Yolks are a group of family-run farms that work to keep the welfare of their hens at the heart of everything they do. Their special free range eggs have a deep golden yolk, that makes their product distinctive and delicious. In 2019 the product received a stamp of approval from critics in the form of a Great Taste Award.
Launched in January 2019 exclusively at The Co-op, Browndog were asked to develop the brand, packaging and website for Freshlay Golden Yolks. We were delighted to get this eggcellent opportunity and made sure their love of farming was reflected in the creation of their brand.
A Heritage Brand
After research into the market, we found that many farm based products have a hierarchy of branding giving them heritage and that personal touch. The brief was brought to us by Noble Foods, and through looking into their company history, Freshlay Farms was developed as the figurehead for the identity. This will later allow room for extending the brand under the same name.
The illustration style of the logo makes Golden Yolks feel familiar and down to earth, and the added gold foiled typography gives the product the premium feel it deserves.
We created a clean, fresh looking one page website perfect for Freshlay to tell visitors about their story, their hens and their eggs.

Developing the brand
Beautiful photography of eggs was introduced alongside the brand that felt fresh and homemade, promoting their golden yolk and encouraging cooking with Golden Yolk eggs.

The development of the bespoke feed to create such a golden yolk was a long term project, however the creation of the brand design, website and style guide was completed at an amazing pace by the team.
