You’ll see new partnerships, new websites, and exciting new services throughout the year. We’ll soon be marking the occasion with a timeline of our favourite milestones over the years, so keep your eyes peeled for old photos
Our agency came to be in 1999, when Andrew Myford and Owen Bulmer decided to join forces and create a design agency. Inspired by Owen’s dog Max (who happened to boast a beautiful brown coat), Browndog Agency was born.
To celebrate the millennium, we produced our very own Browndog calendar in collaboration with Peter Defty. If you've been to our office over the years you will now see these photographs beautifully framed on the walls.
Over the course of 4.5 years we worked from office in Elland Brooks Mill, they were ideally located near clients .
2003 saw us relocate to a larger office in Huddersfield town centre. The Media Centre is where the Browndog team first met Alexis who at the time was running his own business. We were at then at team of 6.
2005 saw us relocate to our current home on Bradley Business Park in Huddersfield. Situated approximately 2 miles north of the centre of Huddersfield, we are ideally positioned equidistant between junction 24 and 25 of the M62.
Sutcliffe Play design playgrounds and play equipment for children, with a focus on allowing imagination to flourish. They are invested in creating environments that encourage social interaction, risk-taking and learning as well as developing physical health.
We have worked on a number of campaigns for Sutcliffe Play, mainly promoting new equipment and ranges to commercial clients.
Separately, in 2002 Alexis Bradbury and Andrew Melling teamed up to create their own strategic consultancy called The Mix Marketing.
One of The Mix’s first projects involved a significant rebrand of a global business, so they sought a design agency that could get on board with the project. Browndog was the perfect fit, and this partnership between the two businesses formed a close working relationship, resulting in their shared offices in the Media Centre in Huddersfield until 2006.
In 2007, following the retirement of Owen Bulmer and the buyout of Andrew Melling, Alexis and Andrew Myford decided to merge the two businesses to form a fully integrated marketing and design agency. Luckily the memory of Max (who is sadly no longer with us) lived on as they joined under the name of Browndog.
Now with 15 years of web development behind him, Chris is our go-to for building your perfect website. His websites deliver robust solutions for large numbers of sales transactions as well as high visitor numbers for any business or purpose (plus they look wonderful).

Browndog helped client Hollybank with all of its branding and marketing for the Trois Etapes, a Pro-Am cycle race across the Pyrenees pitting teams from 12 charities from around the world against each other in a bid to raise funds.
Alexis raced in the team with Andrew in the support vehicle as the team, led by Round the World cycle record-holder Mark Beaumont, finished in a very creditable 2nd place.
To celebrate a wonderful 2017 for the agency we headed out to Yurt Bar for a ski experience.

Scout is a tricolour Border Collie who loves nothing more than exploring the great outdoors, whether that be chasing a ball or a stick through the fields, or embarking on a three day expedition in the Lake District with her dad Alexis.
When she’s not out and about on adventures you’ll often find her snoozing on the sofa or staring longingly out of the living room window, but when the time comes to get her lead on to venture outside she’s guaranteed to be sitting by the front door waiting for you.
We joined more than 300 businesses in the region in committing to making our Business bike friendly with the expertise of CityConnect. This included updating our facilities including a secure bike park and showering facilities.
Our bike rack is always open to you if you want to cycle to a meeting, but if cycling isn’t for you, we also reduce our footprint thanks to technology; not every meeting needs to be a physical journey. You can join us on Zoom from the comfort of your home/office.
Olive is also a lover of the outdoors and is always eager to go for a walk through the local countryside with her dad..
She also enjoys a game of fetch, and if she makes a particularly impressive catch she’ll sometimes give herself an “awoowoo” to celebrate!
For this years end if year celebration we enjoyed classic and contemporary Spanish tapas at the luxurious Iberica in Leeds ! A beautiful setting to celebrate a fantastic year for Browndog.

Monty is a chocolate and tan smooth haired miniature Dachshund. As a scent hound and prized hunter, living in the countryside of the Holme Valley suits Monty down to the ground, and he’s very close to it!
Monty loves to find that blade of sunlight creating a lovely warm spot in the home office, the perfect place to chill out and soak up the sun. Given the chance, he’d lie there forever.
Covid-19 put our everyday lives on hold, working from home became the new norm. Lucky to be in the digital industry, Browndog adapted to WFH life pretty well.
We built and delivered an interactive workshop programme, delivered to approx. 15 businesses, with the aim of covering off the main areas to consider when building a WordPress or WooCommerce website.
At Browndog we operate a hybrid working model that gives our team the flexibility to work from home or join us in the office when it suits them. Many of us meet two days a week to talk through our projects and enjoy some face to face catch ups.
By reducing the number of commutes to the office and the time that we all spend there, we’re not just doing our part for the environment, we’re actively encouraging a better work-life balance for our team and giving them the flexibility to spend more time working from the comfort of their own homes.

Well, sort of. We recently installed solar panels to the roof of our office building. We’re harnessing the power of the sun to reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment, while reducing our energy costs.
In 2023 we hit the milestone of hit sending to print over 7,000 print jobs since we started Browndog. Clients often ask if we do print, and the simple answer is, you’d better believe we do!
Our portfolio spans decades and boasts a wide range of projects from large catalogues with hundreds of pages, to eye-catching brochures and attention grabbing posters. We don’t think there’s a brief we haven’t worked on, so feel free to challenge us!
We’ve introduced an electric charging station at our office to support our team to make sustainable transport choices. It’s not just good for the planet, it’s good for business too. By offering this amenity, we’re building a team that shares our values and commitment to making greener choices.
For this years end of year celebration we headed to Leeds for some festive fun - in the form of social darts. It’s only fair to say that some of us missed the mark (not Meg, taking out the Christmas baubles instead of hitting the board) but others scored big and took the winning spot! Feeding our competitive spirit was a great way to let our hair down after a busy year.

We’re pleased to show you our updated and refreshed collaborative working space, with a fully renovated kitchen area for our team and visitors to enjoy.
Enhancing our working environment for the whole team, and for the benefit of our many office visitors, has been something we’ve been discussing for a little while in the Browndog office, so we’re glad to have finally completed the project.
As a hybrid working group combining Browndog and FWDirect, we want our space to be inviting, collaborative, and a place that enhances our creativity.
Our cutest new member made his office debut in October 2023. Our PPC expert and Digital Marketing Manager Josh, has recently welcomed Otis into the family. A beautiful Blue Rhone Spaniel, he’s melting the hearts of the team and getting plenty of attention! We think you’ll all agree he’s a perfect addition to the Browndog team, joining Scout, Olive, and Monty in the rotation of regular office workers.
There’s a reason that dogs are man’s best friend, they offer us companionship, unconditional love, even a purpose to get ourselves out of the house sometimes. More importantly, it has been scientifically proven that spending time with our furry friends comes with major benefits to our health.
To date, Browndog has served over 400 clients, developed over 200 websites, and grown into a 17-member strong team, working at our fully owned offices in Bradley.
We’ve been fortunate to be involved with business support programmes throughout Yorkshire, Middlesborough, West Midlands, Birmingham, and even Germany, helping a further 300 organisations. Andrew and Alexis regularly regale the team with anecdotes about their years in the industry and put us all to shame with their pop culture references and daily dad jokes.
