A new high-tech manufacturing facility is due to arrive in Brighouse this year. We’ll soon see the launch of the i4.0 Hub as part of the £19.1m Brighouse Town Deal, which has been funded by UK Government and led by our client, Calderdale College, with the support of the Brighouse Town Deal Board.

The new facility will enable small and medium sized businesses to explore how digital technology can improve their productivity and increase innovation.

At the end of 2023, The Business Desk shared how £650,000 of the £19.1m funding had been allocated to the new Industry 4.0 project, focusing on augmented reality, advanced manufacturing and robotics.

As residents of the local area, we’re pleased to see that the town’s businesses will benefit from the opportunities provided by the hub, including seeing 70 apprenticeships delivered as part of the project.

When discussions of the hub first began, we were proud to have worked with the Calderdale College team to expand the branding, and design the signage for use at The Engineering Centre, for which we had also previously created the brand.

The brief asked for help in naming the hub, and supporting its launch at the Engineering Centre, with consistent and timeless designs for signage throughout the building. Using a combination of fresh photography and new visual elements, the team required a range of signage, floor-to-ceiling wall graphics, wayfinding and window vinyl to provide seamless messaging in rooms, corridors and canteens.

Using our established creative process and extensive experience working with the college, we named the i4.0 Hub, giving a nod to the fourth industrial revolution, also referred to as Industry 4.0. Characterised by increasing automation, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, green tech, etc, we found it a fitting choice for the new hub.

We’re excited to see the launch of the i4.0 Hub, set to open early this year. We’ve collaborated with Calderdale College on significant projects for many years and we’re thrilled to see the impact that these new centres have on both the local community and the wider reach that brings students to the area.
