Megan Bradbury

Welcome to our new series of blogs, getting to know the team. Our team is the most important aspect of Browndog, bringing together over 100 years of combined experience, each with their own skills and expertise (and quirks). Introducing our Content Writer Meg Bradbury…

Who are you and what’s your role?

Hello, my name is Meg and my role at Browndog is a Content Writer. My job entails writing for all different purposes for our clients’ websites and socials, our own website and our eCommerce site. I get the exciting opportunity to write in a variety of different styles and forms varying from product descriptions to blogs, landing pages, PR and newsletters to name a few.

Tell us some background…

I have always loved writing and the arts; essentially anything creative. I have danced from being a young girl, and performed in my local pantomime from being 5 years old, all the way to 19, when I left for university. I always found time to write stories and poetry, and even won local writing competitions in my youth.

Before leaving for university I studied Musical Theatre, and then applied to Bangor University to study Creative and Professional Writing, where I received an unconditional offer and after three years of studying, my degree. I studied a range of writing styles and genres such as poetry, journalism, screenwriting and the novel, amongst others, all while enjoying the beautiful scenery of North Wales.

After university I started working at an events company as a project executive where I had the opportunity to work abroad on a large conference in Mexico, but soon discovered that my favourite part of the job was proposal writing. It made sense to me to look for a career doing something I love, which is why I joined Browndog Agency to pursue Content Writing.

What kind of projects do you enjoy working on?

Creative writing has always been a passion of mine, so I especially enjoy any projects that require some level of descriptive writing where I can add a bit of imagination and flair. However, I have always loved academia and school so I will never shy away from an opportunity to research a new sector or product.

What projects have you worked on this year?

I have been extremely fortunate to work on a variety of projects, both for clients and our own agency and eCommerce business.

I have produced a number of blog articles for Browndog on best practices, as well as some FWDirect articles showcasing our products, and some informative pieces for the building sector such as Approved Document E.

When it comes to client work, I have produced content for Darren Smith Homes, Wybone and Winder Power, where I have had the opportunity to write blogs, website and socials content and even work on a brand refresh.

Where in the world would you like to visit?

I have been very fortunate to visit some amazing places such as Canada and even travelled in Indonesia around Bali and Lombok.

A couple of places that are definitely on my bucket list are Hawaii, Nepal and the Maldives, but I also want to go to Scotland and Ireland because I can’t believe I haven’t yet!

What unpopular opinion do you have?

I often get ridiculed for it but… KFC is spicy!

What are you loving at the moment?

This may seem like a strange one, but I’m at the part of my life where all of my friends are starting to take on their new chapters and adventures, be that further education, new jobs or even new relationships and I’m really loving watching us all growing up and taking on these new opportunities, especially my university friends who I spent 3 years with, through the lockdowns as well, so we were so close knit. It’s a scary and daunting, yet surprisingly exciting time.

I’m also loving getting back into the things that I set aside while I was studying, for example I have rejoined my dance school and now I get to dance with some of my old classmates which is so lovely. I’m even looking at restarting the pantomime.

How do you spend your free time?

I would definitely class myself as a social butterfly so I do like to see my friends in my spare time. I also really enjoy going out for nice meals, especially Italian; can’t beat a great pasta dish!

As I said, I have rejoined dancing so I enjoy taking part in my adult street dance class. I also really want to start reading again, after having to do so much for university I seem to have taken a little break but I love getting lost in a good book. My favourite books are To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Moving by Jenny Eclair and The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. Next I am reading The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller.

What’s a life goal of yours?

Ever since I was little I’ve dreamed about being an author, so I would definitely like to publish a novel some day!

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I have always been a night owl. I have found that inspiration and creativity is much more abundant for me at night, and I used to stay up late when doing my creative assignments such as prose and poetry writing.
